Today, I will tell you about a place that is away from the hustle-bustle of city life, endowed with such beauty that you feel like you are in heaven and so peaceful that it often feels that there is no one but you there!

A small, sleepy village in the Shimla District in Himachal Pradesh, Fagu is located 22 kms from Shimla city and 3 kms from Kufri. Located aside a saddle like Hindustan-Tibet road, Fagu is a quiet, peaceful and breathtakingly beautiful place away from all crowds with nothing to do, other than enjoying the beauty of vivid dales, feeling like you are in heaven and at peace, taking long walks, experiencing the lazy lifestyle, feeling the romance of the musical rustling of leaves, the swaying of the conifers and the clarity of the sky in contrast with the dazzling white snow clad mountain peaks!

It has only two hotels and being at the highest altitude 2450 m, it seems to have derived its name from the fog itself.

I stayed in The Apple Blossom hotel which offers a picturesque and kaleidoscopic view of landscaped dipped in mysterious mist and is a deluxe hotel with a friendly staff, comfortable rooms and the rooms also offer a great view of Fagu.

The Apple Blossom is run by the Himachal Tourism and I enjoyed my stay here. Decently priced, it offers numerous facilities like gym and ayurvedic rejuvenation center to relax. The food is good and  I strongly recommend having the evening and early morning tea on the terrace that offers awesome view.

This was the view from the window in my room every morning. Isn't it just beautiful!

I visited Fagu during the summer season and still had to carry light woolens and then required thick blankets for the nights which go very cold. Being at a high altitude of 2450 m, it stays pleasantly cool even at the height of the summer season and witnesses snow during the winter season.
